Former Western Australian Government Railways brake vans obtained during World War II.

NY 38

Former Western Australian Government Railways 36ft. brakevan "Z 38" (duplicate), obtained during WWI. This seems to have been Western Australian Government Railways "56" but records are a bit confusing.

8.1896 Issued to traffic by the Western Australian Government Railways as brakevan C 35.

10.1900 Renumbered Z 5038.

c.1940 Was to be renumbered Z 56, but may have been sold to the Commonwealth Railways before this was done.

11.1940 Sold to the Commonwealth Railways.

- Entered service on North Australia Railway.

2.5.1951 On register of North Australia Railway.

- Converted to a spray unit van for the poison train.

22.7.1970 Written off.
