These pages contain information about the locomotives owned and operated by the Commonwealth Railways, which was merged with the South Australian Railways in 1975 to become Australian National Railways. This name was eventually shortened to Australian National.

In 1997 the freight business was sold to Australia Southern Railroad and the passeger business to Great Southern Railroad.
