HRA 55

HRA 55 circa 1936.

Built by the Commonwealth Railways Port Augusta Workshops, entered service as "HRA" class brakevan with sleeping accomodation.
3.11.1936Entered service.
4.3.1978Condemned and sold to WAGR. Recoded "WBF 811" class and used on Leonora line.
6.1982Written off.

Built by the Commonwealth Railways Port Augusta Workshops, entered service as "HRA" class brakevan with sleeping accomodation.
14.8.1937Entered service.
14.11.1952Converted to "HRG" Power van.
8.10.1957Alterations to roof, engine exhaust vans installed.
3.7.1962To narrow gauge "NHRG" and dining facilities installed.
4.10.1963Back to standard gauge.
28.4.1965To narrow gauge.
11.2.1966To standard gauge.
-Allocated to CME Port Augusta Breakdown train.
19.8.1987At Port Augusta.
2000Sold to Seymour Rail Preservation Group who only wanted the generators.
4.2000Generators removed and remaining car donated to Australian Railways Historical Society (Western Australian Division) for use as a source of spare parts.
5.5.2000Left Port Augusta on delivery run to Western Australia.

30.9.1937Entered service.
4.3.1978Condemned and sold to WAGR. Recoded "WBF 812" class and used on Leonora line.

HRGA 96 and HRG 58 at Spencer Junction 25.6.1998

Built by the Commonwealth Railways Port Augusta Workshops, entered service as "HRA" class brakevan with sleeping accomodation.
20.11.1937Entered service.
12.12.1956Converted to "HRG" power van.
21.4.1961To narrow gauge "NHRG".
30.10.1962Kitchen and dining facilities installed.
27.8.1965Converted back to standard gauge "HRG" when air conditioning was installed.
16.11.1966Returned to narrow gauge.
13.1.1970Back to standard gauge.
-Allocated to CME Alice Springs Breakdown train.
1.4.1986Tenders were called for disposal.
3.1988Still on register despite tender call in 1986.
1998Sold to Steamtown Peterborough.
1.1999Transferred from Port Augusta to Peterborough.
