Not in my (perhaps limited experience).

Er - you might like to read the phrase you're responding to again, and
see where I made such an assertion.

That isn't the problem - I like a drop with my meal as well. I'm talking
about the proles who lurch on with bottles of rum - in the particular
case I'm thinking of, the rum was inside a two litre plastic Coke
bottle.

A passenger attendant is a security person?

After lights out?

Jack, I'm speaking from personal experience of half a dozen XPT trips.
If they've improved since 1997, then all for the good.

Er - I actually go by plane. The price is comparable, and the trip is
faster. I'd prefer to go by XPT, but the timetable is nutty (5am in
Brisbane for glubs sake!), and the train itself very tired.

I applaud your efforts to improve passenger service, but there are
actual, real problem with the XPT as it stands (rolls?). I might be
travelling again in June, so we'll see how we go.
