Countrylink named as World's Worst Passenger Service

An item on WIN News for Canberra last night stated that an American magazine
(didn't say which one, but I presume it's Trains) has nominated Countrylink
for the world's worst passenger rail service.

I think that, whilst Countrylink is far from perfect, some of Amtrak's
services aren't a whole lot better when it comes to surly service and poor
timekeeping - there's so much recovery time built into many of their
schedules, and yet they still run late.

Surely some of the services in third world countries, where passengers have
to ride on the roof and crammed in like sardines in sweltering temperatures
would be a little worse than Countrylink?
And you only have to read the uk.railway newsgroup to find things aren't
wonderful on many services in old Blighty.
