Actually, for full effectiveness, the Green Line needs to be extended on
BOTH ends.  Besides stopping short of LAX on the west, it also stops
short of the Norwalk Metrolink station on the east end.  If the Green
Line connected Norwalk Metrolink with LAX, there would be a viable rail
connection between the airport and residents and businesses in Orange,
Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
