Just having a think about it, the lines on the Sydney side of Hornsby
are roughly at full capacity now, so in the minds of Cityrail it would
be pointless building another platform. You will also probably find the
opening of the Parramatta - Chatswood line would ease congestion
slightly.
Blacktown, however is still growing and will have increased services.
Who knows they might even open up new lines or old ones! So in an
endevour to prevent congestion like Hornsby they will have a stab at
getting it right! (for once)

Now the more logic you put for something to be done the more you push
City rail to go the other way. So lets not get too carried away.
