Re: English Electric car body

<stip>

An interesting footnote to British GEC that has no railway connection.
At the end of World War 2, GEC (or what it was called then) as part of
the winners booty acquired the use of the Osram name which is a German
company. Therefore, for the next 50 years all Osram lights sold in
Australia were GEC while Osram products had to be sold under other
names. Only in 1995 (50 years after the finish of the war) did it
finally revert back and Osram were permitted to sell under their own
name. The absurd part of this is that all other countries in the world
abandoned this arrangement years ago, except (you guessed) Australia.
