The Murwillumbah branch serves marginal electorates - no political party
with even a low level of intelligence would dare to close the line.

The shuttle service connecting with the Up Sydney Daylight XPT could
continue on from Casino to Brisbane and return later to meet the Down
Daylight XPT from Sydney. This would provide an alternative to road travel
for Lismore & Casino residents to travel to Brisbane. It may also have
tourism potential in providing a daylight service through the scenic
McPherson Ranges.
