heheh okay, there's no doubt I should have a ticket if I'm in a paid area
"premises for entry to which a ticket is required" - but I think there's
still some confusion if a station platform without barriers and without
"paid area" signs (eg my local station, Glenhuntly, where you don't even
have to pass validators to get onto the platform) is a paid area.

Certainly at any station where there is without doubt a paid area (eg any
city station) then the meeting point would have to be outside it. Equally,
if I was meeting someone off the train and saw CSEs there waiting to check
tickets, I'd wait outside just to be sure.
