In your original post to aus.legal you didn't mention a
footpath.  FYI, the road includes the shoulders which, in an
undeveloped area can include the equivalent of a footpath.

Really? What law is that? First I have heard of it, it is
not in the
National Road Rules, and it is nowhere else that it could
possibly be. A
cite for that statement would be nice.
