I share any information I have (it usually isn't needed given how far
away I now live) and I follow this newsgroup and about 15 others daily.
I also subscribe to several mailing lists which are more specialised
than the newsgroups. I don't do that out of snobbery but just to get the
extra information which comes from them because of the specialised
nature of the lists.
