Commonwealth Railways GM class diesel electric
(Clyde/GM A16C) for Microsoft Train Simulator.
----------------------------------------------
Downloaded from The Victorian Railfan Web Site

Please Note, you will need to download Christine Sweetnam's
S class cab without the NR mug before using this locomotive.
This file is located at Yuri Sos' Steam4me MSTS add-ons site.

Re-released on 1/10/2003 with physics/brake upgrade by Ian Bowles
and the dynamic brake controls disabled (as GM32 and 34 never had
dynamic brakes).

This model was produced using Train Sim Modeler v1.1.
I would like to thank Ian Bowles for the many hours of work he
has put into developing more realistic brake and physics values
for all Australian MSTS rolling stock. This locomotive uses his
brake and physics upgrades.
Peter Bermingham's excellent books "The ML2 Story" and "The A7 Era"
were used as a reference while making this model. Without these
books, I doubt that I would have been able to model such a
difficult locomotive.
The train-sim.com cab design forum was a useful source of
information, Especially Christine Sweetnam's thread about
her S class cab.
Specular lighting enhancements added with MSTS Shape File

About the prototype:
--------------------
With the success of the eleven ML-1 units (GM1-11) that were
introduced in the early 1950's, CR once again turned to Clyde
Engineering when they needed additional locomotives for the
Trans-Australia railway. These new units were similar in appearance
to the ML-1's, but they were the newly developed A7 model. Later
deliveries were the A16C model. The final unit (GM47) was delivered
in 1967.During the 1970's and 1980's, a number of GM class locos
were hired to the Victorian Railways for use on the north east
standard gauge line. GM's 31, 32 and 34 were hired in the 1970's.
GM's 23, 24, 27 and 28 were hired in the 1980's.
In the early 1980's, the GM class units were repainted from the
maroon and silver livery into the green and yellow Australian
National livery.
Withdrawals started in the early 1980's and continuted into the
1990's. However, higher numbered units still remain in service
with Australia Railroad Group. A number of withdrawn GM's were
sold to Great Northern Railway in the late 1990's and several
of these have now been returned to service. GM36 has been
preserved operational by the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre.

-------------
This add-on uses an installation program. Double click on the
executable file and follow the prompts to install the "Commonwealth
Railways GM class for MSTS".
When prompted to choose the directory for the installation of the GM
class, please make sure the path points to where you installed MSTS:
<drive>:\<directories>\<msts dir>\
Where <drive> = Drive where you have installed MSTS.
and <directories> = Any directories between the root directory of
the drive and the "Train Simulator" directory.
Light engine consists have been provided. To run these locos on a
train, you will need to use the consist editor.
