My father, Arthur Brook has contributed many photos to this site and he's done an incredible amount of driving around Victoria to capture many of the images that appear on this site.
Chris Gordon, Michael Kurkowski and Steven Hurst have contributed information and photographs to the news section.
Peter Haworth has contributed information for the loco page and has also informed me of a few errors.
Jeff Bounds has contributed information for the historical photos section.
Roderick Smith and his Magazine "Rail News Victoria" has also been a valuable source of information.
People who post to the Vicrail-News and AusLoco mailing lists have provided a lot of information to me and other railfans that wouldn't normally be available.
I must also thank Brian Evans and David Bromage from Railpage and Interactive Omnimedia for providing the space for this site.
Now for a little bit about James Brook, the author of the site:
My parents took me for a ride on Puffing Billy back in 1983
at the age of two and this is what really kick started the hobby for me. Since then I have grown up travelling around Victoria and Australia
on railfan tours. I'm a member of many preservation and enthusiast groups in Victoria and I'm a volunteer at the
Daylesford Spa Country Railway.
Over the last 15 years, I have developed a strong interest in capturing railways on film and more recently digital photography.
In 1998 with the increasing popularity of the internet, I decided to combine this interest with my computer knowledge and create the Victorian
Railfan Website.
Apart from my interest in railways, I graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Science) in 2002. I'm currently
employed within the telecommunications industry as a Test Analyst. Other hobbies include watching science fiction, playing computer games, computers
and motorsport.
