Lets put it this way, thanks to the headboard I have never seen an operating R or D3 in VR condition. Even if you don't care about heritage, it wrecks the look of the
locomotives. The D3 is a loco with a very clean and uncluttered appearence that is wrecked by a bright red headboard that sticks out like a sore thumb. Y112 is currently the
only steam locomotive on the main line that doesn't have a nameplate or a headboard, and it looks really good.
