The old Tweed Heads extension was built to standard gauge clearances but
unfortunately it's long gone. Also, the Murwillumbah branch is
notoriously winding and hilly in places. And also, also there is not
much traffic to or from the Gold Coast.

It's a pity really. The jacarandas outside the Friendly Inn at Eltham
are a top spot to watch trains if there were some to watch.
