Re: Crossing loop design (r.e. Southern Aurora crash)



At Chatswood (North Shore line, NSW) the down starter is before the main
lines crossover and has a plate with the following wording (or something
like it):

Drivers when directed to pass this signal at stop must bring their train to
a stand well clear of Chatswood crossover and must not proceed unless
satisfied that it is safe to do so". (The crossover is about 20 metres from
the signal and very clearly visible from a train standing at the signal.)
