Re: Train Accident in Blue Mountains

Taken together, the various illustrations posted here and on news
services seem to show that the collision occurred just on the Up side
of the Bruce St overbridge, on the sharp left-hand curve. Probably
because of the curve, the car-carrier wagon has telescoped into the
front car of the interurban at an angle and has penetrated the
left-hand portion of the "single deck" level, almost as far as where
the double-deck portion commences. Looks like the mutual movement of
the collision resulted in the car-carrier entering the superstructure
of the DD car near the drivers cab and it penetrated at about a 30
degree angle until its rear right corner came to rest just across the
aisle near the stairs. You would expect the fatalities to be in the
left hand side of the front single-deck portion.
