Re: Badgerys creek rumblings.

The proponents for Badgery's Creek stated that they needed it sited there
rather than at Goulburn because no one will be prepared to spend the time to
travel to Goulburn, even with high speed.

Elements of the Goulburn communtiy were wanting the second intenatinal
airport there.

I was under the impression that badgery's creek was required because
projected air traffic in general (ie air traffic to Melbourne and regional
areas such as Canberra, Albury were only one element in this increase.
International air traffic was the major increase??)

I would see that the High Speed rail to Melb would take most Syd-Melb
traffic (depending on price) but people would not travel to Melb to catch
international flights. (They would not even travel to Goulburn).

For politicians to now state that the High Speed Rail is a viable
alternative to Badgery's Creek smacks of hypocrisy. Basically they do not
want Badgery's Creek so thay now say that rail is better. They are just
playing politics rarther than policy.
