Re: X38 and X35

I understood that X35 was a rolling unit and cab, and body work was
complete, when it was towed to Seymour some time ago.
Prior to giving it to Seymour, they stripped those parts that were required
as spares at Newport.[traction motors, generators, electrical equipment, and
I presume they changed out working fans and other equipment for worn out
pieces etc]
Although my contacts are getting cold now, having retired in October, I
would think that X35 would have been returned in similar condition, and the
"guts" of X38 would be adequate to return X35 to service.
Last thing I heard was that X38 would return, upgraded and would look like
X47, a third series [modified] engine which is designed to work short end
leading only, thus the controls would be on the LHS of the cab.
Since Newport was allocated to Pass operations, the spares held there, in
storage, have been divided up between the two operators, and Dynon is
looking a little overcrowded, with open wagons filled with engines,
generators, traction motors etc, laying all over the place.
