Well said W-class! Most rear ons are caused by a lapse in concentration by a
tram driver. There is usually no excuse for travelling too close to the tram
in front. But the different braking characteristics between Ws and Zs can be
frustrating, and lead to impatience, and an error of judgement.

One of the possible solutions suggested by a Swanston Trams spokesman was to
have all W and all Z routes to overcome this problem.

I used to be a tram driver trainer. You always keep your tram well clear of
any tramway vehicle, big trucks, buses, and trailers. You can hit anything
else.
