If one must spend 40 minutes just to get out of the city by train, that is 40
minutes you have to add to the travel time. Unless your high speed line gets
to within 10-15 minutes from the downtown, the gains from the high speed line
will be waisted in the approach to the city. 

Same thing happens in those talks of a similar train between Montreal and
Toronto. The proponents claim to be able to build a high speed line to make te
trabel time to 3 hours. But they omit to talk about the 45 minutes that the
train would be spending on the departure and approach phases in/out of Toronto.
