But flying to Tassie is signifigantly quicker, whereas the VHST would be
comparable to flying, possibly quicker, on the SYD-CBR-MEL sectors (also
SYD-OOL-BNE, but we won't go into that). Looking at city centre to city
centre times, you would have to allow at LEAST 3 hours to get from the
centre of Sydney to the airport, check in, ground delays, time in the air,
time waiting for baggage, then getting from Tullamarine to the centre or
Melbourne. With this, a businessperson would have at the most about an hour
of usable work time.

Using a VHST would also take about 3 hours from centre of Sydney to centre
of Melbourne, so the time is comparable, but all of that would be usable, as
well as all of it being time where mobiles would be usable, laptops would be
usable, etc. You only have to look around the QANTAS Club or Golden Wing
lounges and see how many people are working (reading briefing notes, working
on laptops, etc) to know that they will jump at the chance to get an extra 2
hours of preparation in.
