Re: New York Subways [Was: Re: Stuttgart Suburban Train ]



Services are timetabled (in pamplet form, and on their website) and there
are MANY routes, but in effect if you are using a line in Manhatten they are
so frequent you don't need a timetable. Must agree that despite complexity,
it is a very easy system to use, with large signs at the entrance to each
platform and hanging above each platform at track level with detailed
information on what trains stop there. No expensive indicator systems, just
easy to replace (when service patterns change) and informative signs. Large
coloured route numbers/ letters. Never left in mystery as to where to go. A
lead Sydney could take....
