Re: OT - Third Millennium (was: Merry Christmas)

James

You must have failed maths at school and certainly haven't read information
at the links sent to you by Bill Niven. Or perhaps you attended a $1000
millennium dinner or got married or engaged at midnight NYE and want to
maintain your naively innocent ignorance. It was a good excuse for a party
anyway!

Only 1,999 years plus a few days have elapsed since the nominal event from
which our calendar is calculated. The first day of the 20th Century was the
date our country became a Federation, i.e. 1/1/1901. This date was chosen
because it was the start of the century. Next year on 1/1/2001 we celebrate
the centenary of Australia, the start of the 21st century and a new
millennium. 2000 years will then have elapsed.

The premature ejaculators have had their way this year. Next year is the
serious stuff!

:)

Cheers
John Wayman
