Well, there you go.
I've just sat and watched the video, "Flying Scotsman and Pendennis Castle's
West Australian Rail Tours" and can say that the Castle did pilot the
Scotsman and it was the only occasion where another loco did so whilst here
in Australia.
Both had taken a train up the Avon Valley to Northam.  On the return journey
they halved the train at Northam.  The Scotsman left first and waited in the
loop for the Castle to arrive on the main.  The Castle left first and later,
the Scotsman.  At Midland Junction, the Castle left it's train and pulled
right ahead.  The Scotsman arrived and set back onto the Castle half.  Then
double heading with the Castle in the lead off they went to finish the
journey.
