Pendennis Castle was built in the 1920's and took part in the loco exchange
trials running on the LNER, (not sure of the date, late 1920's?) 4472 Flying
Scotsman also took part in these trials.

Your mistake, I think?  Is that Clun Castle (preserved by Birmingham Railway
Museum Tysley, Birmingham) was built after Nationalisation and never wore
GWR livery whilst in BR service.
