The chances are that the three car train would have continued in a
straight line and remained upright if derailed with catch point at
this point. The worst that could have happened would have been much
less serious than what did happen.

The Hornsby derailment is a good example as the train ended up more or
less upright, in the dirt, alongside the running line that it would
have gone onto if the catch points had not existed.

Can billbolton or anyone else provide evidence of anywhere in NSW
where a track layout the same as where the London accident occured
exists?
