I couldn't agree more. Like many of the people in this group, I've travelled
extensibly on rail business, and I've seen some pretty great things in other
states, like Victoria's super-fast inter-urban broad-guage trains and
beautiful station buildings.. I'm actually an XPT fan, and have enjoyed
travelling on it, but I have to say it's a nasty train when you want a feed
or you don't have the money for a sleeper. It's slow to Sydney from Brisbane
too... really slow.

Perth has fantastic trains, and some really advanced operational systems,
like on-board video on trains for driver assist, and information on demand
at platforms... great stuff!

And like you, I had to baulk at the negative stuff being said about QR,
especially that crap about us charging too much for coal haulage.
