Re: [VIC] headboards, nameplates and non authentic liveries. (was: [VIC] Steamrail headboard)



There are two markets:
* Charters to social clubs etc, people who couldn't tell the difference
between a K and an R.  They may as well have the headboard (and Thomas
faces and mock holdups).
* The railway enthusiast market.  These groups created Steamrail in the
first place, as a cooperative venture.  On these trips, the headboard
should be removed.
Since Steamrail adopted a policy of allowing the headboard off at selected
photostops at hirer's request, it hasn't been implemented.  This is partly
because Steamrail made the simultaneous move of running most enthusiast
tours itself.  In general they are well organised, run to time, cover
interesting lines and events and have civilised onboard amenities.  The
passengers on these tours (paying $70-90 per day per head) would be much
better served without the headboard.
