What about the cost of it? This would require a standard or dual gauge line through Spencer Street, then Flinders Street and
then a standard or dual gauge line to Frankston. Past Frankston they could either dual gauge the line or standardise it.
Standardising or dual gauging it would then stuff up the Stony Point pass unless they had a dedicated standard gauge line
just for the LI steel trains. It would probably be cheaper just to tranship the cargo from BG to SG.
