I don't think opening the road to cars is going to achieve what they want.
If they want nightlife, they need to make sure there's cafes and bars and
restaurants and all the other things that actually attract people to a
street at night. Well, something more than a 7-11, anyway!

Does anybody remember what Swanston Street was like before it was ever
closed to cars?
