Must agree with you there, except when I'm stuck in my car waiting for a failed train
to be worked clear of the level crossing approach circuits. Sometimes we railfans have
to use our cars for all sorts of reasons.

What I do have trouble with is the approach clearance provided for level crossings,
sometimes quite unnecessarily delaying trains.
