Hey, when the Z's were introduced there was not such thing as low level platforms. If
there had of been then maybe the front doors would have been moved. Also the doors were
there for entry of passengers only, you exited by the other doors only, and in that way
the driver (remembering that the conductor was seated and did not give the ok to restart
from stops) could move the people getting on a faster so that he could close the doors and
start away. A bit hard if you can't see it clearly. The exiting passengers generally
exited a lot faster than the boarding passengers and so he could rely on the mirrors to
monitor these doors.

And also don't forget that the Z1's are now around 18-20 years old. How old are you?
