I've always thought the best solution to crossing the Blue Mountains is to
do the chunnel thing. Start at Emu Plains (or North Richmond) and bore a
tunnel to Lithgow. Force all trucks not delivering to the Blue Mountains to
use a shuttle service under the mountains. Send all the freight trains also
through this tunnel.

This would increase the ammenity of the Blue Mountains and eliminate a
operational problem for freight train operators.
