Not at all, many of the loco hauled expresses in Europe in fact have a panto
on top of the dining car, if they want power for cooking, just raise the
panto.  Of course 1500V DC is a bit over the top for boiling a billy, so you
need a bit of electrical gear on board to transform it down to 240V or so.
