Another good railroad movie was/is "Emperor of the North" (1973) with
Ernest Borgnine as the conductor determined to keep hobos off his
train, Lee Marvin as "Number One" the hobo determined to ride
Borgnine's  train to maintain his status as "Emperor of the North" was
another great railroad movie (the confrontation between Marvin and
Borgnine got a tad violent at the end). 

A much underrated movie as I recall.
