Don't bother with the map. The Altona line was NEVER closed in the early 1980s
for a short period. Trains continued to run during the entire time, only just a
peak hours on Mon-Fri. Off peak and weekends it was a bus service.
The Lonie Report of the late 1970's suggested that Port Melbourne, St. Kilda,
Upfield and Williamstown be closed - which they weren't and suggested that
Altona would be doubtful. The rest of the story is history.
