This is the usual story.  The STA & SRA go to IPART each year seeking a
significant (10% +) fare increase but the govt. rules out such a large
increase pegging any rise to the relevant CPI.

The timing of the election is literally coincidental.

This year may be different however.  You may find an increase of up to 7-8%
(my guess) is granted.  Action for Public Transport accepts this level of
increase as appropriate.

We'll have to wait and see (as usual).
