Even more far-sighted people would then work out that the transit
vehicle would run more smoothly and carry more people more efficiently
if it were on tracks, and produce less pollution if it were powered by
electricity.

Goodness knows what kind of transit service we would have if such a
radical idea was taken to its conclusion.
