I personally like the idea as shown in the 1993 edition of the Melways.
In case
the latest editions don't show (I MUST update one of these years!)....
Proposed stations at:
(1) (name unknown): North side of Taylors Road - close to a
large
shopping centre.
(2) "New" Sydenham: Approx 1Km south of the current Sydenham
station.
(3) (name unknown): At the North end of (proposed?) Western
Institute
of Technology (Keilor Campus) - also has the advantage of
being
at the southern end of Calder Park and a (proposed)
industrial
estate....
The current Sydenham station is poorly located - getting out of the
station car
parks (especially the eastern side) and heading east towards the
shopping centre
is a nightmare due to heavy traffic and no lights at the Melton H/way
entrance!
Besides, it is well away from anything - houses, shops, etc... If the
shopping
centre had been built next to the station instead of half a mile down
the road it
wouldn't have been so bad!
I'd also like to see a bike track build along the railway line - there
is plenty
of room for one on the eastern side of the line! AND SOME TRAFFIC
LIGHTS/pedestrian
crossing at the station! :-)
Mick.
