Why don't Bayside just buy the 'm' set (as V/Line wouldn't have any use for
it, with unpowered doors an no conductor's compartment) and buy a DRC or
some other unused railmotor (if there are any left) and just use the 'M'
cars when needed? This would mean that they wouldn't need to electrify or
hire any rolling stock or loco's from V/Line passenger.
If I had my way, I'd put driver only Sprinters between Spencer St and Stony
Point, stopping limited stops between Spencer St and Frankston, then All
stations. If another platform was built at Somerville or Baxter, trains
could be crossed. DICE and ASW could be implemented and this would save the
government (or whoever owns Bayside) in the long run, so everyone wins
(except the Stony Point connies).
