:I agree, but don't drivers have some obligation in
:keeping their work place clean, if you have pig work
:mates, get together with you Reps and DO something
:about it.!

Fireman are required to "Maintain the cleanliness of the loco cab". To do
this the loco is equipped with a brush, pan and toilet brush. The loco is
filthy when it whistles out of loco, so there is no cleanliness to maintain
in the first place - not that they could do it with the supplied equipment
anyway.

It has nothing do with "pig mates" it has to do with lazy cleaners and
slack, selfish and uncaring management and constant budget cuts despite
constant productivity increases.

The union reps can't do shit.

:On the old North Australia Railway I have watched
:Drivers cleaning their own cabs, the NT's had brooms

:iron ore dust got in everywhere.

FreightCorp cut out the rags in a budget cut. The drivers have nothing to be
proud of in the first place. The 82's were good to start with but neither
FreightCorp nor Ready Power clean or maintain them properly so they are fast
starting to look like the rest of the derelicts.

:Over on Hammersley Iron, a mate of mine was on the

:the trains and then hand them over to Crews to take
:back to Dampier, he liked the odd fag or two, and woe
:for him if he left any ash or mess in the cab.

There is never any of that any more.

:As for Truckies, most of them clean their own rigs, but
:then of course most of them do not have to share their
:prime mover like loco drivers do.

********************************************
Truck drivers of company owned trucks would be given the time and equipment
to clean their trucks - an area a lot smaller inside and out than a loco
cab.
