The main question appears to be - why bother? The only major 1067-1435
interchanges are Brisbane and Perth. NRC already tranships containers
on a through service between Melbourne and Townsville (& other FNQ
locations). The NQ Direct service takes a couple of hours in Acacia
Ridge - just a little more than 'talgo-ing' without the requirement of
specialised rollingstock. NQD runs about 3-4 times/week and is a
growing market - mostly stuff that used to go n road all the way.

Just another eccentric crank.
