When was that done?

I also noticed that when Swanston St. Walk was being done, some excavation
on the corner of Lonsdale St. exposed some cable tram yokes. I don't know
whether they were removed or not.

And of course when the curves were put in from Spencer St. to Bourke St. in
1987 for the Light Rail, the last piece of in-street cable-tram track went.
Also at that intersection, it was very interesting to see during
excavations for the new curves that the large pit with the pulley for the
end of the cable also remained.
