Re: Carr road rescue derails train lin

Greg,

I can, to a certain degree see the point you are trying to make, but duplicating the
rail line to Richmond is not the only solution.

As a person who regularly uses that abomination that is called Windsor rd , I can
assure you Mr Carrs statement is long overdue.

Not everyone can use public transport, shiftworkers etc. So rail and bus is not the
only answer. I do believe there should be a rail link to the many housing
developments that are ocurring in that area, but as Windsor Rd is a major arterial
road it should be 4 lanes(which will be obsolete by the time it's built).

On top of this 1999 - 2000, 12 people lost their lives on this stretch of road ,if
that happened on rail there would be a public outcry.

Hopefully if NSW and Vic. get their way and get the extra 1 billion dollars of GST
revenue the federal go sees fit to give to the other states(despite what was
promised), then we might see all these improvements happen and a real transport
strategy developed.

Thats my 2 bobs worth

regards

Mark
