Unfortunately peak hour is the worst time to be photographing trains at Roma
Street station unless a special is running (eg. NRR Ritz Rail, very late
XPT, Tilt Train, Spirits and Landers). Theres only a few rare occasion where
you will be denied, but usually you should be right. The SM at Roma Street
is actually quite understanding when it comes to railfans hanging around
with cameras. Usually depends on the staff you come across, including the
Railway Squad (Police), Protective services (Ticket Inspectors) and
Telechubbies (Chub security).
