So says the front page of the Tuesday April 24 edition of the South
Gippsland Sentinel-Times.
A lengthy article follows which suggests that it is very likely that the
rail line to Leongatha will be reopened to freight and
passengers as a result of an expected announcement in the Victorian budget.
The interesting point is that the South Gippsland Mayor, Jeanette Harding
'...added that there was a strong argument for restoring the line all the
way to Barry Point' where she is quietly confident that a deep sea point
will be established.'
I thought the line only ever went as far as Yarram? Did it go further? How
likely is such an extension?
Gee, at this rate, next they'll be re-opening the line to Orbost!
cheers Peter
