Re: [NSW]CCTV Spying on staff

Got nothing to do with State Rail or any other rail organisation. Having
thought about the incident in question I am even more concerned. I would
like to know who is actually monitoring the camera's and what is the
statement of duties for their role. If they are using the camera's to
report staff breaches of discipline then the role of the CCTV system is
being trivialised and could lead to vandalism of the camera's by pissed off
staff. This could lead to a very serious life threatening incident being
missed. I have my doubts about the neccesity of the system as it appears to
be an expensive knee jerk reaction to imaginary crime beaten up by the
gutter tabloid press. They only keep pushing what crime exists away out of
the line of sight of the camera's. This leads for calls for more camera's
such as was the case in George and we end up with a facist Orwellian
society, By the way, the authorities do not appear to have any problems
mounting fare evasion campaigns, we not the same where crime may be a
problem in specific areas.
