Re: [NSW]CCTV Spying on staff

Morning Ray

Sorry but when you signed "Rod Gayford (also workplace delegate)" I
incorrectly assumed you meant within State Rail. I apologise for any slur
that may have implied.

The matters you raise are quite legitimate but again I would suggest that
crossing a track without a vest is a breach of safety not a breach of
discipline.

I cannot recall the specifics for SRA in particular but I seem to recall
that there is extensive regulation or legislation covering the operation of
systems such as SRA's station mounted CCTV system. I thinks these regs or
legislation may have included training and/or certification of operators of
these sorts of systems and if they don't then they certainly should.

Try looking like you might have $5 in your pocket and standing still by
yourself for five minutes at Central in the Main Concourse or out at the
tram stop after about 8 PM any night. Unless you look like a rugby player,
someone will ask you for money. SRA should make it safe and unthreatening
for you to be in their stations. If the cameras move that threat or crime
somewhere else then more people will feel safe on the stations and maybe
more people will use the trains.

It is unsafe out there and personnaly, I like the idea that there is someone
being paid to look after my well being by monitoring my safety at stations.
